Therapy & Parenting
Selah Youth is dedicated to provide mental health treatment to children and adolescents, between ages 5 and 17, who struggle with their mental health. Mental disorders can begin in childhood where behavioral and emotional challenges can interfere with their development and cause long term problems if not treated.
At SCC, youth and their parents are interviewed to understand the history (e.g. development, family, medical, education) and nature of the problem during the intake evaluation. The evaluation helps to clarify problems on the underlying behaviors and identify strengths and weaknesses. A treatment plan and recommendation is made on the best approach that would help your child promote their wellbeing and foster growth. Therapy for children includes parent involvement and learning strategies that are effective in treating the condition or problem. During sessions, the therapist may include play, games, arts & crafts, stories, workbooks, and at times give parents and their children tools to practice at home during the week.
